Karin Heller, New Garden Friends MeetingAdult Forums

Sunday, September 5, 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.(Zoom only): Over the past several months, there has been much discussion around the idea of taking Sabbath as a holy act of resistance. Friends are invited to read the attached interview with Old Testament scholar and theologian, Walter Brueggeman, and join us for discussion https://tinyurl.com/tkax65ec
Looking ahead to the remainder of September (and possibly part of October), we will use a book entitled, “Faithful Voices: Oral Readings Exploring Beliefs in Action” during our Adult Forum time together. This book is a series of scripts inspired by the lives and writings of spiritual teachers. They are written to be read aloud, and are accompanied by queries. It is my hope that Friends will volunteer to read aloud and
explore the queries together. I have several copies of the book available to borrow.

There are readings for the following:

  1. Margaret Fell
  2. George Fox
  3. John Woolman
  4. Rufus Jones
  5. Emma Goldman
  6. Dorothy Day
  7. Myles Horton
  8. Fay Honey Knopp
  9. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
  10. Juanita Nelson
  11. Ed Nagel

Please contact Karin Heller is you would be willing to share a reading. ([email protected])
