Friends, as I shared Sunday, I spoke with Margaret about the progress with her recovery. The complications of her pregnancy are uncommon and difficult to treat, and she is receiving excellent care. At this time, her doctor advises that she is unable to return to work, and her treatment and recovery will be lengthy; how long is not known. MMC will be meeting on May 24 to discuss proposals for next steps in managing the pastoral care needs of our community. Margaret asked me to convey to Friends how grateful she is for the support and care shown to her. Please continue to hold Margaret and her family in the light.
Margaret’s work cell phone is being carried by members of MMC, and pastoral care needs are triaged and handled. Deborah Seuss is serving New Garden in a limited, contract basis, capacity for the month of May, and will assist with pastoral care needs.
I am delighted to share that this coming Sunday is Recognition Sunday, and Karin Heller, our Religious Education ministry coordinator will bring the prepared message for semi-programmed meeting for worship on May 22.
As the announcements reader at semi-programmed meeting for worship, I remind Friends that items for announcements should be submitted before 9 a.m. Sunday morning, in writing, and can be left in my mailbox (letter ‘G’) in the connector or emailed to me at ([email protected]). Please be respectful of the multiple roles I have agreed to take on for our community and my personal worship time as I am walking into meeting for worship.
Attenders to Meeting for Worship and all meeting events are reminded that masks are required in the building. We continue this practice (even as some others in the community have stopped masking) as an act of inclusion, protecting those who are unvaccinated, and living into the testimony of care for the community.
If you know of a need for pastoral care, please feel welcome to contact me or call the New Garden cell phone number – 336-338-1986.
In the light, Karen Garraputa, Clerk, Meeting on Ministry and Counsel
