New Gardeners are invited again to watch or walk in the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. parade, a one-mile route, from Benbow Professional Plaza (on MLK Drive) to the railroad tracks where MLK meets downtown. We will join other walkers from Friendship Community Partnership at 10 a.m. to line up in our assigned spot, and 11 a.m. to start the celebration. Bring a sign honoring Dr. King, or just bring yourself. Just to have white folks show up for this parade makes a welcome statement. (Yes, it may be cold, but inspiring and invigorating.) The parade ends about 1 p.m., when we could get lunch together, and then attend the new movie about Dr. King being shown at 2 p.m., at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum.
