We invite Friends to join us in celebrating 350 years of Friends in North Carolina on a pilgrimage to eastern North Carolina and Virginia where the first Friends meetings in NC were established.  We will explore early Quaker sites and meetings in Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, NC, including Up River, Piney Woods and Little River Meetings, visit the Newbold-White House, and, not to be forgotten, Wolfman Jack’s grave! We will wrap up with Meeting for Worship and a carry-in lunch on First Day at Somerton Monthly Meeting in Virginia before heading back to Greensboro.

Our resident Quaker historian Max Carter will ride with us from Greensboro and local historians Lynwood Winslow and Glenn White will join us on Saturday to guide us around the area, sharing our rich Quaker history.

We will travel by a Holiday Tours motor coach and spend two nights at the Hampton Inn in Edenton, NC.  The cost is $45.00 per person plus the cost for the two nights lodging ($330.00 for a room with one king size bed or $352.00 for a room with two queen beds) with additional out-of-pocket expenses for two meals.  You may choose to share a room which will make this pilgrimage quite reasonable.

Plan now to join us September 16-18, 2022.  We will leave New Garden Meeting at 8:00 a.m. Friday, September 16th and return to the meetinghouse late in the afternoon or early evening on Sunday, September 18th.

Registration will be limited to New Gardeners until July 31st.  If there are seats remaining after that date, we will invite those from other Friends Meetings in the area and those in the Friendship Community Partnership to join us.
