New Garden Friends Meeting 801 New Garden Road, Greensboro, North Carolina

This is an opportunity for the community to express our love for our children, young adults and teachers as they enter into a new school year. It is also an opportunity for us to remind each other (even if we are not headed back to the school!) that we carry the love of New Garden Friends Meeting with us wherever we go.

Intergenerational Forum on “Safer Schools; Realities, Strategies, Tips”

Friendship Hall / Presenters: BJ Barnes: Guilford County Sheriff, 24 years; Mike Richey: Deputy Chief over Greensboro City School Resource Officers; Barbara Leland: Career Educator, taught 4000+ students. Ages 6th grade to grandparents are invited to participate in a discussion of the realities of what is going on in our schools, strategies and tips for all involved.

Halloween Graveyard Tour

New Garden Friends Meeting 801 New Garden Road, Greensboro, North Carolina

New Garden Friends Meeting's annual Hallowe'en lantern tour of its historic graveyard is led by retired professor of Quaker Studies Max L. Carter and will include occasional "interpreters" of some of the people whose graves will be visited. Included on the tour will be stories of early settlement in the 1700s; the Revolutionary War skirmishes fought around the graveyard; the Underground Railroad; famous industrialists, reformers, and educators; battles for desegregation; and even famous athletes. Caroling at Friends Home

Meet at Fellowship Hall at 4:45 p.m. / Walk to Friends Home to share holiday melodies with Friends. After caroling, everyone is welcome to come back to Fellowship Hall for a free pizza dinner and cookies.
