5307 W. Friendly Avenue / October 10, 2021 / 3:00 p.m. / You are invited to a Daylight “Ghost Walk” along W. Friendly Ave. A recent re-zoning approval of a parcel of land along W. Friendly Ave. will mean the loss of the historic Kimrey-Haworth House. To highlight what has been lost in the New Garden/Guilford College Heritage Community — and what needs still to be preserved — the New Garden/Guilford College Community Alliance will lead a walk October 10 along a mile stretch of W. Friendly and describe the “ghosts” of significant sites that once stood along the avenue. The walk will start at 3 p.m. from 5307 W. Friendly Avenue, the Kimrey-Haworth House. The route will lead past historic sites that will be described by local historians and longtime residents, ending at Friends Homes West, the former site of the Coble dairy farm.
