Our Presenter is Mr. Evarts, who is a climate and air quality expert and attends Durham Friends Meeting. From 1988 to 2018, he worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reduce air pollution and make it possible for everyone to breathe healthy air in the U.S. and around the world. He worked with the United Nations to develop an international agreement to reduce harmful mercury from the air and water. He also worked in China to help reduce air pollution in cities like Beijing and Shanghai, and to reduce China’s carbon footprint. More recently, Mr. Evarts has teamed up with others at the state, national and international levels help end the climate crisis while addressing inequality and building bridges where people have been divided by racism and other forms of oppression.
