Hello- My name is Megan Scales, I am Program Director for AmeriCorps, Partnership to End Homelessness. AmeriCorps brings out the best in America by working directly with nonprofits to take on our nation’s most pressing challenges. Our programs focus is to interrupt and alleviate homelessness and hunger. AmeriCorps, Partnership to End Homelessness is recruiting members who are passionate about service. We are recruiting 6 full-time and 23 part-time AmeriCorps members for one year of service at agencies in Guilford and Forsyth counties. Our sites include The Servant Center, YWCA Greensboro, Crisis Control Ministry, FaithAction International House, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Youth Focus, Backpack Beginnings, Peacehaven Community Farm, Goodwill Industries, City with Dwellings, greeNest, Mobile Oasis, and A Simple Gesture. Member roles vary from case management, resource allocation, crisis intervention. And more. Seventeen roles are available.
Benefits vary depending on part or full-time status. All members receive a modest living allowance, education award, networking opportunities, and professional development. Part-time members receive a monthly stipend of $525 (before taxes), plus an education award of $3,172.50. Full-time members receive a monthly stipend of $1255 (before taxes), with an education award of $6,345, $200 per month in health insurance benefits, and childcare assistance if eligible. Many students use qualifying AmeriCorps roles to meet academic internship requirements. Indirect benefits include clarification of educational or professional goals, a strong alumni network, professional references, and a feeling of community impact.
