Dear Friends,

All of a sudden, it feels like Christmas is upon us! This Advent, I am reading a free devotional called The Season of Waiting by Kate Bowler. She is a writer I always enjoy, and I highly recommend her book Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I’ve Loved).

For this week in her devotional, Kate Bowler wrote, “The fragility of the people we love makes Christmas layered with a lot of different feelings. Love. Nostalgia. Grief. Worry. Joy. Exhaustion. Loneliness. Want of more cookie-making (or eating).” (26)

That seems so true this week in the New Garden Friends Meeting community. We are looking forward to holiday celebrations and we are grieving losses. We feel joy being together and all of the holiday busyness can be exhausting. Families can be filled with love and complications. There is both excitement and fear in the unknown.

All of these things are true at the same time. And so I hope that if you need a little extra care and support during this holiday season, you will reach out. We are here for you.

Blessings, Ashley
