Please encourage any and all Quaker Men of all ages to attend and participate in the NC Quaker Men Fall Dinner to be held at Centre Friends Meeting, 325 NC Hwy 62 East, Greensboro, NC 27406 on Monday night, September 19 at 5:59 p.m.
We hope musically gifted men will gather before the dinner and rehearse for a Men’s Chorus to sing during the program!
Josh Brown, pastor at Springfield Friends Meeting, will be our speaker on the topic: “The Rebuilding of North Carolina Quakers — the Baltimore Association.” Josh Brown has served in four different yearly meetings (New England, New York, Indiana and North Carolina). He was on the General Board of Friends United Meeting (FUM) for 15 years, and has served on Ministry and Counsel, Missions, and many other committees in various places. In his spare time he has written and edited over a dozen books, including the centennial reprint of The Autobiography of Allen Jay, the new 2-volume series for the 250th anniversary of Springfield Friends Meeting, the devotional books What Does an Angel Look Like? for the Christmas season and Rumors of the Resurrection for the Easter season, and many others. In his spare time he enjoys woodworking and giving music programs to churches, libraries, schools and civic groups. He and his wife Joyce have two grown children and six evangelical cats.
Please note that this Fall Dinner is a week earlier than usual so as not to interfere with the upcoming Fall Work Trip by NC Friends Disaster Service the next week, from Sept 25-30 to the New Bern, NC area in cooperation with the Baptists On Missions Disaster Group. There are families in that area still dealing with homes damaged by multiple hurricanes, some having no insurance nor funds to repair their homes. Volunteers, men and women, are still needed! If you would like to participate, please contact one of the Co-Coordinators as soon as possible. (Gary Dodson, 336/495-6790; Walter Shore, 336/244-0527; Allen Gibson, 919/656-9030)
