Barbara Leland will lead a discussion on Restorative Justice Practices. The U.S. justice system is oriented toward punishment, which is reactive justice.  Punishment does not teach the responsible person, nor heal the affected person.

 

Restorative Justice Practices is a paradigm shift, a philosophy implemented in many cultures and in many school systems.  Restorative Justice Practices gives voice to both the responsible person and the affected person.  It focuses on “repairing the harm, restoring individuals, and restoring relationships.”
