To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community, and in accordance with Gov. Cooper’s request to limit gatherings of 100 or more persons, semi-programmed Meeting for Worship has been cancelled on March 15 and March 22.

This decision was reached on Friday (March 13) by New Garden’s COVID-19 Prevention Group.

Religious Education activities, including meetings of Young Friends, also are cancelled for March 15 and March 22.

Unprogrammed Meeting for Worship will take place as usual, but members and attenders are requested to wash your hands upon entering and leaving the building. A hand-washing station has been set up in the kitchenette in the foyer outside the Worship Room.

Those attending unprogrammed Meeting for Worship are requested to practice “social distancing” by not shaking hands and maintaining three feet of separation. Also, please refrain from touching the hymnals and other surfaces as much as possible.

The COVID-19 Prevention Group will meet soon after March 22 to reassess matters and determine when semi-programmed Meeting for Worship will resume.

During this health emergency, individual committees at New Garden Friends Meeting will decide whether to meet at their regularly scheduled times, or use email to find consensus, or cancel physical meetings until further notice.

Please check the Meeting website (ngfm.org), the Meeting Facebook page, and your email for additional information in the days ahead.
