April 25, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Speakers: Ken Brame, Chair of NC Sierra Club Chapter & Chair of the WNC Sierra Club Political Committee Blake Flemming, Lead Organizer, NC Sierra Club Chapter Ken Brame helped form and has been a leader with the Western North Carolina Renewable Energy Coalition in Asheville/Buncombe County. Asheville has been measuring its energy use since 2009 and has reduced energy usage by 30%, saving the city almost a million dollars a year. Due to an active grassroots campaign that began in 2017, the city of Asheville and Buncombe County have each passed goals to reach 100% Renewable Energy by 2032. They’ve hired professional consultants and currently have a steering committee of volunteers who regularly receive input from community stakeholders including private sector businesses, manufacturing groups, non-profits, and low income citizens. Co-sponsored by Sierra Club RF100, Piedmont Plateau Group, Greensboro Solar Power Now Coalition and Green Drinks Greensboro For more information contact: ([email protected]) or ([email protected]).
