Adult Forum / Climate Crisis, Solutions, and Faith

May 6, 2018 @ 9:45 am - 10:45 am

Emery Kiefer is the Campus Corps Coordinator at The Climate Reality Project. A native of North Carolina, she completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Natural Resources: Policy and Administration at NC State University. Growing up in Greensboro, she was an active part of New Garden Meeting, participating in First Day Classes, Young Friends, and serving as a Summer Camp Counselor at New Garden Friends School.

During her time at NC State, she began canvassing for The Climate Reality Project’s first student-led campaign, urging students to demand a strong climate agreement at the UN’s Paris Climate Conference in 2015. Emery successfully organized the largest environmental student organization at NC State, with over 100 active students in five different activism teams. In the fall of 2016, she led her chapter in changing energy standards on campus – going from no mention of renewable electricity – to setting a path for 100% renewable electricity by the year 2030. As a result, Emery was invited to share her experience at the Denver Climate Reality Leadership Training with Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and 1,000 trainees.

Upon graduation, Emery joined the Climate Reality family in Washington DC to continue advising students across the world on how to take bold climate action at the university level.

Emery will be presenting on the state of the climate crisis, its solutions and how faith and Quaker testimonies play a part.
